Tipsy Chicken Card Games

Tipsy Chicken is known for creating some of the trendiest, most unhinged party card games out there. I was brought on to work on the content for a few of the games you’ll see on this page… and really, who better to match their freak than someone just as unhinged?

Freaky Rumors

The game mechanic is fairly simple, but that’s what makes it so fun. It’s all about storytelling, creativity, and seeing just how unhinged your imagination can get.

Each round, you draw four cards: a character, an action, another character, and a spicy detail. Your job is to come up with the most plausible (and entertaining) explanation for why that completely ridiculous situation happened.

For example: Batman robbed your smelly uncle while taking pictures of the naked homeless man.

Everyone tells their version of the story, the group votes for their favorite, and whoever gets the most votes wins the round.

I was responsible for creating the content across three sets of cards: people, actions, and spicy details. I came up with 75 options for the actions, 75 for the spicy details, and 150 different characters to give the game enough variety and keep the combinations feeling fresh.

And this was long before AI or ChatGPT existed, so I spent a LOT, and I mean a LOT, of time coming up with these. Every single ridiculous combination had to come straight from my own brain.

Subtext Showdown

Nothing takes the fun out of a group game faster than a complicated set of rules.

For Subtext Showdown, the challenge was to turn complex game mechanics into simple, engaging, and easy-to-follow instructions that anyone could pick up in minutes.

My focus was on simplifying the language, creating intuitive guides, and making the learning experience feel like part of the fun. The goal was simple: less time figuring out how to play, and more time actually playing.
